Today we began installing the Tiny Tot solid-fuel stove.
The Tiny Tot base comes pre-drilled for 3 #8 screws. We secured the stove to the wheel well box through these holes using three 3" drywall screws, and added three 3" lag screws through brackets.
The heat shield was removed from the stove during this process and re-attached afterwards.
The 3" stove pipe will pass through a 5" hole made with a 5" hole saw.
We removed a few inches of insulation from the gap between the birch paneling and the exterior steel. We cut a 20" strip of sheet metal 1.75" wide and used it to form the outermost layer of a heat shield. A sheet metal screw helps keep the shape.
A length of stove door gasket rope is then glued to the metal ring using hi-temp silicone.
Another band of steel is inserted into the gap and secured with a sheet metal screw.
